Tech Savvy icon Mie Hvas Alexandra Instituttet

A prominent profile in artificial intelligence will now be responsible for strengthening the bridge between research and business. The Alexandra Institute has hired Mie Hvas as the new Head of AI Lab, where she will lead and further develop the institute’s work with AI, an area that is a central part of the institute’s offer to both public and private actors.

The Alexandra Institute writes this on its website.

The goal is to translate research into usable solutions that can optimize processes, analyze data and give Danish companies a technological edge.

Commercial and multidisciplinary profile

Mie Hvas graduated from Copenhagen Business School and brings a strong commercial and interdisciplinary perspective to the role. She has previously worked with AI initiatives in complex organizations such as Sund & Bælt and Accenture, where she has built experience in leadership, consulting and digital transformation.

“I see the Alexandra Institute as a unique player in the Danish business community. We have some of Denmark’s sharpest experts in language technology and computer vision. We excel where off-the-shelf products don’t fit and where data sovereignty, open source and ethics are crucial. We are highly skilled at implementing artificial intelligence in business. Not to get rich, but to make Denmark smarter. I look forward to being part of that mission,” says Mie Hvas.

Focus on responsible and usable AI

As Head of AI Lab, Mie Hvas will be responsible for both collaborations with research and business partners and for implementing AI projects where the technology plays a central role in the development of intelligent systems and data-driven decision-making processes.

According to the Alexandra Institute’s management, the appointment is an important step in strengthening the institute’s position within responsible and application-oriented AI.

“With Mie’s extensive experience and leadership skills, we strengthen our ability to implement state-of-the art AI solutions that boost the competitiveness of our customers and partners. We warmly welcome Mie – an ambitious leader who strengthens Alexandra’s commercial profile and has a deep passion for the development of responsible artificial intelligence as a socially beneficial technology,” says Niels Husted Kjær, CEO of the Alexandra Institute.
